New Zealand International Commercial Pilot Academy - Learn to Fly in New Zealand

Enrolment Criteria

The eligibility criteria for each programme can be found on the Learn to Fly page in either NZ Diploma of Aviation area or the Licences and Rating area.

The following sets out the eligibility criteria for Domestic (New Zealand) students:

  • Verified evidence of Citizenship or Permanent Residency (verified copy of birth certificate, passport or permanent resident visa)
  • 17 years of age:  Please note:  Students must be 18 years of age prior to the date of CPL Flight Test or ATPL examinations
  • NCEA Results – (NCEA Level 2)  - or  - A trade qualification at Level 4 or above
  • Class 1 Medical Certificate – copy required
  • Land Transport Driving History Report
  • Ministry of Justice Report
  • A letter detailing why the applicant has chosen a career in aviation
  • Provide two (2) verbal references and one (1) written reference. The written reference should be a different contact to the verbal references
  • Be likely to meet the Civil Aviation Authority Fit and Proper Person requirements   
  • Meet applicable programme or training scheme prerequisites
