International Student Information | Insurance & HealthcareInternational students must have appropriate and current medical and travel insurance (which must include cover for aviation training) while studying in New Zealand. It is recommended that NZICPA arrange this on students' behalf. Enquire when making your application. It is strongly recommended that all international students hold insurance for the following aspects as a minimum:
Health cover while in New Zealand
Travel InsuranceMissed flights or delays for travel into and out of New Zealand. Medical expenses incurred for the treatment of an illness and injury incurred during the travel.
Personal liabilityNegligence causing bodily injury (including death) of another person or loss of or damage to property. False arrest and wrongful detention.
Personal effects InsuranceInsurance should cover students’ personal effects, including items like expensive musical instruments, laptop computers, and sporting equipment. Limits should be realistic but able to be increased to represent the actual value of particular items.
Other InsuranceStudents should consider additional insurance to cover such things as loss of fees due to unforeseen events e.g. illness, travel delays, family issues that interrupt studies etc.
Car InsuranceIf you intend to own and operate a car while in New Zealand you should have at least Third Party Liability Insurance to cover costs to the other party if you have an accident. Should you require assistance with insurance we are able to provide advice and information. |
